Happy New Year 2015 !!!!
I prefer staying indoors these days because of the crowd at every place. So I had a good home made dinner.
Made Fried Dim Sums but with an Indian twist. Here is the recipe.
Ingredients
For the filling
Chicken keema -350 gms
Onions - 2 medium sized, chopped
Chillies - 3-4
Garlic paste - 2 tsp
Ginger paste - 2 tsp
Vinegar - 1 small cup
Coriander - 2 tbsp
Chat Masala - 1 tsp
Tomato sauce - 1 tbsp
Salt
Oil - 1 1/2 tbsp
For the outer skin
Maida 1 1/2 cup
Atta - 1 1/2 cup
Oil - 1 tsp
Water
Oil for frying
Method
Soak the chicken in vinegar for at least 4 hours. Drain the vinegar and wash well.
Make a keema of the chicken by grinding it in a mixer grinder along with chillies.
In a wok, add oil and heat it.
Add the onions and chicken keema. Add the ginger and garlic and salt.
Cover and cook on low heat. Stir occasionally.
Cook until the whole mixture is dry.
Add tomato sauce, chat masala and coriander and mix.
Now knead the atta and maida with water into a soft dough.
Make round balls with the dough in the size of an egg yolk.
Roll out small portions like the size of a puri or luchi.
The rolled out mixture shall be quite thin.
Place a spoon of the chicken mixture at the centre.
Now fold in the sides of the rolled out base. i gave it the shape similar to that of modak.
Heat ample oil in a wok and fry the momos. You can also steam them if you want to.
