How many times have you tried to control your urge for a soft gooey lava cake? Don't you feel pathetic when a blueberry cheesecake is served to you and though you want to dive in, a voice inside you screams....Calories!
Well here are a few tips that you can use to make your dessert calorie-less.
1. While making a cake, use whole wheat flour (atta) instead of refined flour (maida). whole wehat has more nutritional value than refined wheat which mainly consists of carbohydrates, thus increasing our sugar intake. Unfortunately, refined flour is used in making all delicacies due to its attractive appearance and light texture. using whole wheat flour instead of refined flour would cut down about 30% of the calories in a cake.
2. When making kulfi at house do not use condensed milk. It has very high calorie content. Try using toned milk and boil it on a medium low flame gradually and reduce it as it thickens. Also, add honey instead of sugar.
3. Rasmalai is another dish where you can use toned milk instead of condensed milk. Like kulfi, reduce the milk as it thickens .
4. When making ice creams replace cream or condensed milk with skimmed milk. While you cook the milk on low flame, once it reduces, add finely grind biscuits or a fine paste of stale bread. this will thicken your mixture but won't affect the taste.
