The Blue Door

Last weekend I went to this new place. Its a small and relatively new place near Vivekananda Park. The interiors are simple and elegant.

Here is what we offered:
Cilantro fish
Price: Rs 275/-

It was very good. I think about 8 to 10 pieces were there. The taste was new and the fish was fresh and soft.

Chicken Mushroom in Wine Sauce
Price: Rs 365/-

Chicken and mushroom cooked in wine. It is served with parsley butter rice. The quantity is quite good and taste is very good.

Ayam Bali with Nasi Goreng Rice
Price: Rs 350/-
It has traditional Balinese chicken served with Indonesian rice. This was lip smacking and the quantity was huge.

Roast Lamb
Price: Rs 425/-
Has a good portion of roasted lamb served with mashed potato. The one who ordered it, said it was good.

Pork Rib
I don't think this was in the menu card, however the person taking the order suggested it. It looks absolutely delicious and was so indeed.

Prawn Satay with Garlic dip
Price : Rs 355/-
This dish tasted good but frankly speaking i was a bit disappointed by the size of the prawns.

Chicken Stroganoff
Price: Rs 275
It's a Russian dish with pieces of chicken in sauce and sour cream served with rice. It was good and creamy and quantity was very good.

Arabiata Chicken Spaghetti
Price: Rs 275/-
The quantity was huge. The taste was mind blowing. Its basically a dish consisting of spaghetti cooked with veges and chicken in red sauce. It comes with four slices of garlic bread.

Overall the food is great in taste and quantity. But one thing that this place needs to improve is it's time taken to serve.
I will give The Blue Door 4 out of 5 Stars

Codfather

By Amaleena

Hi friends,

Visited this place last weekend. It's a small place at Deshapriya Park. Has few tables inside. Also has outdoor seating arrangement. It was a Sunday and the restaurant was almost full. There was a group of people who were pretty loud and somewhat disturbing owing to the small area. However, i enjoyed the food and service was also fast and good.
Here is what we ordered:

Codfather Special Soup (Fish)

It's basically a thin soup with small chunks of fish and coriander. It has a flavour of lime and garlic. It is moderately spicy. I found this very good and definitely recommend this.

Chicken Steak

This is a chunk of grilled chicken served on a bed of mashed potato and above it was sauteed onion and mushroom topped with two sunny side up eggs. Served with boiled vegetables. The chunk of chicken is good in terms of quantity and taste. It was thoroughly cooked.

Baked Whole Bhetki

A whole bhetki is baked and served in a creamy gravy served on a bed of sauteed potatoes and served with sauteed vegetables. It was very very tasty and the portions was good.

Mexican Fish with Rice and Salsa

Firstly, the quantity is huge. Chunks of fish cooked in Mexican style is served along with mildly flavored rice and spicy salsa. the quantity is too good and so is the taste. It's moderately spicy and delicious.

Price:
Two soups, two chicken steaks, one whole baked bhetki and one Mexican fish with rice and salsa...and the bill was about 2k.

Pros of the place:
1. Prompt service
2. Very good food
3. Portions are good
4. Kitchen id kind of open and is clean :)
5. Serves drinks

Cons:
1. Pretty small place
2. Not really a place for family outing on a weekend.

My verdict:
****
4 out of 5 stars

Calorie less DESSERTS

By Amaleena

How many times have you tried to control your urge for a soft gooey lava cake? Don't you feel pathetic when a blueberry cheesecake is served to you and though you want to dive in, a voice inside you screams....Calories!

Well here are a few tips that you can use to make your dessert calorie-less.

1. While making a cake, use whole wheat flour (atta) instead of refined flour (maida). whole wehat has more nutritional value than refined wheat which mainly consists of carbohydrates, thus increasing our sugar intake. Unfortunately, refined flour is used in making all delicacies due to its attractive appearance and light texture. using whole wheat flour instead of refined flour would cut down about 30% of the calories in a cake.

2. When making kulfi at house do not use condensed milk. It has very high calorie content. Try using toned milk and boil it on a medium low flame gradually and reduce it as it thickens. Also, add honey instead of sugar.

3. Rasmalai is another dish where you can use toned milk instead of condensed milk. Like kulfi, reduce the milk as it thickens .

4. When making ice creams replace cream or condensed milk with skimmed milk. While you cook the milk on low flame, once it reduces, add finely grind biscuits or a fine paste of stale bread. this will thicken your mixture but won't affect the taste.

Buddha Bites

Hi friends..!

Buddh Bites is a new place to hangout for those who love Chinese food. So here I am with one. Had visited Buddha Bites, Gariahat recently. overall the food is good so is the ambiance.

Here is my list of food that I had:

 Pan Fried Chilli Fish

Good taste but quite spicy.

Chinese Fried Rice

Hong Kong Fish

(fish tossed in spicy brown sauce)

Five Spice Chicken

(diced chicken tossed with Chinese spice)

Very new and tasty.

 Chicken Manchaw Soup

(this is half bowl)

It is very filling. quantity is good.

Mongolian Fried Chicken

Has 8 pieces. Is marinated and fried in batter. Is not that oily.

Sliced Chicken Pok Choy (sliced chicken cooked in light sauce with green veg)

Very light. Good for those who don't prefer spicy food

Moon Fan Fried Rice and Chilli Plum Fish

The rice has a nice flavour of star anise.

The fish was extremely good. It had a sweet and sour flavour.

Verdict:
Food is good in terms of taste and quantity. the meat they serve is soft and not overcooked. the quality of the fish is pretty good compared to most places. The ambiance and interior is well designed and gives a cozy feeling. However, there are not much number of tables so a prior reservation on weekends might be helpful. out of 5, i will give Buddha Bites

Dinner in the rain

By Shrabasti

The unnoticed monsoon came with such a hurry.. This weekend we had a plan for dinner with friends. But, on that day, it was pouring throughout the day. My friend and me planned to wear something ethnic. So we selected chiffon sarees so that it will dry quickly even if it gets wet.  Though it was raining, humidity and temperature were high.
So it would be uncomfortable if we applied a lot of make up. Thus, we decided to keep simple.

With fashionable chiffon sarees, we selected simple jewellery set. On one hand, i preferred bindi, and my friend stayed without it.
We applied face powder and then both made did eye make up with eyeliner, kajal and eyeshadow. So rest of the face was left rather simple. For the lips we applied only lip balm instead of lipstick. Hair, was left open.
The whole dress and make up was so comfortable, that we didn't sweat much and prevented smudging of make up.
With matching bag and shoes, we became the centre of attraction for the day.

Lastly, it is eternal happiness and mind beauty which makes you bong beauty.
